Outcome Based Education (OBE)

What is Outcome Based Education (OBE)?

Outcome Based Education (OBE) is a student-centred approach focusing on achieving specific, measurable, and attainable learning outcomes. In OBE, the curriculum ensures students acquire the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitudes to meet the program's objectives. By setting clear and explicit learning objectives, OBE enables students to take ownership of their learning, develop problem-solving skills, and apply theoretical concepts to real-world problems. This approach prepares graduates to be industry-ready, adaptable, and responsive to the profession’s needs, ultimately enhancing their employability and contribution to society.

Starting from the 2006/2007 academic session, the OBE approach has been adopted in the teaching and learning the Civil Engineering Programme at SoCE. The Bachelor of Civil Engineering with Honours offered by the SoCE is designed according to the quality and standard requirements for engineering degrees and is accredited by the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM). Currently, the Bachelor of Civil Engineering with Honours has received a full accreditation from the 2018 cycle.
