1-Day Seminar on Geohazard
A one day Geo-Hazard Seminar was successfully organized by Disaster Research Nexus (DRN), Universiti Sains Malaysia on 10th December 2012. The seminar was officiated by the Deputy Dean of the School of Civil Engineering, Professor Badorul Hisham bin Abu Bakar. It was followed by the welcoming speech by the Coordinator of DRN, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Taksiah A. Majid. The main objectives of the seminar are to give exposures to the participants the fundamental of geohazard and to promote the awareness of geohazard in Malaysia. Prof. Hoe I. Ling, an expert in Geotechnical Engineering from Columbia University, USA was invited as the guest speaker in this seminar. Other speakers are Prof. Fauziah Ahmad, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Taksiah A. Majid, Dr. Lau Tze Liang and Dr. Mohd. Ashraf Mohamad Ismail from Disaster Research Nexus, USM. A total of 50 participants including undergraduates and postgraduates, researchers and academicians from various universities and government agencies have joined the seminar.
