Investigation on Collapse of Lightning Arrestor at Menara UMNO Penang

DRN is invited by Kumpulan IKRAM Sdn Bhd to investigate the collapse of the fin shaped reinforced concrete wall which the lightning arrestor attached at the top of the 21-storey Menara UMNO building on 13 July 2013. A technical visit to Menara UMNO was conducted by members from DRN together with representatives from JKP Sdn Bhd, Kumpulan IKRAM Sdn Bhd, Universiti Malaya and Universiti Putra Malaysia on 25 July 2013. The team from DRN consists of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Taksiah A. Majid, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Choong Kok Keong Dr. Lau Tze Liang and Mr. Shaharudin Shah Zaini. DRN will monitor and analyze the wind speed and frequency at Menara UMNO Penang.
