USM Students excel at the UTM Bridge Model Competition 2017
Five teams from the School of Civil Engineering, USM namely, Horizon Sun, De Phoenix, Chill Bridge, NT Bridge and Bridging the Gap competed in the final round of the UTM Bridge Model Competition 2017 (UTM Bridge 2017). The event was organised by the Faculty of Civil Engineering, UTM. About 78 teams competed in UTM Bridge 2017 in the university category.
Water Supply to Kg Sg Cawang, Teluk Intan, Perak
A proposal on ground water abstraction and treatment for a remote area at Kg Sg Cawang was proposed to the Perak Water Board recently. The village is situated in Mukim Durian Sebatang and about 19 km from the main road Jalan Changkat Jong-Teluk Intan. It was opened in 1981 and currently inhibited with 40 families. On 19th April 2017, YAB Menteri Besar Perak came to the village for inaugural visit of rural electrical supply project by TNB.
Chiew Chang Chyau received IStructE Book Prize 2016
The School of Civil Engineering is proud of Chiew Chang Chyau for the nomination as a recipient of IStructE Book Prize 2016 by the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE), Malaysia Regional Group. This award honors excellence in structural engineering courses of a final year undergraduate student. The award ceremony was held during the 14th Annual General Meeting on 25 March 2017 at Dewan Tan Sri Hamzah, Royal Selangor Club.
PPKA Student Received National Recognition in Structural Earthquake Stability Competition 3.0 (SES3.0)
Two teams of PPKA student participated in Structural Earthquake Stability Competition (SES3.0) held on 18 February 2017 at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman Sungai Long Campus. The aim of this competition is to promote the study on structural and earthquake engineering as well as to provide undergraduates with a real-world experience in constructing earthquake resistant structures.
One of the teams consisting of five third year PPKA students won Consolation Prize and Best Efficient Team Award and walked away RM600 in total.
